Safe and stable housing accessibility for foster and other disadvantaged youth is a national dilemma, and this issue is even more pronounced in the state of Ohio.

The disparity between government-funded programs available to Ohio's foster youth and the actual utilization suggests challenges in onboarding processes and accessibility.

Ohio trails the already alarmingly low national averages by 8%-10% in areas like Vocational Training, Educational Financial Assistance, Mentoring, Room and Board Assistance, and Stable Housing (2023 Ohio Profile, Annie E. Casey Foundation).

Our Goal

Our goal is not merely to replicate the offerings of existing programs. Instead, we aim to revolutionize the strategy and method by introducing a comprehensive 4-stage transitional housing program. Abba's House prioritizes:

The foundational challenges that prevent foster youth from fully engaging with already exising programs.
The dialogue with current and former foster youth to empower their voices as we seek to tackle the multifaceted challenges of transition to independent living.

By addressing the emotional, mental, and spiritual needs of young women, in addition to their practical needs, we believe we can pave the way for them to not only pursue higher education but also thrive in their careers, manage their emotions, set ambitious personal goals, and foster healthy relationships across all spheres.
